കേളത്തിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു ലോകോത്തര നിലവാരം ഉള്ള ഒരു പ്രതിഭ… ക്രിക്കറ്റിലെ സച്ചിനും, ലാറയും, vvn റിച്ചാഡ്‌സിനെ പോലെയും, ഫുട്ബോളിലെ പെലെയും, മറഡോണയും, മെസിയേയും പോലെയും ടാലന്റ് കൊണ്ട് കായിക ലോകത്തെ വിസ്മയിപ്പിച്ച കേരളീയൻ. ഇന്ത്യൻ വോളി ബോളിനു പുതിയ മുഖം നൽകിയ മഹാപ്രതിഭ ആയിരുന്നു ജിമ്മി ജോർജ് എന്ന അത്ഭുത മനുഷ്യൻ.. കൊച്ചു കേരളത്തിൽ വോളിബോളിൽ പിറവിയെടുത്ത ലോകോത്തര കളിക്കാരൻ കണ്ണൂർ പേരാവൂർ സ്വദേശി **ജിമ്മി ജോർജ് **അകാലത്തിൽ പൊലിഞ്ഞു പൊയ ആ സുവർണ നക്ഷത്രത്തെപ്പറ്റി നമ്മുടെ പുതിയ തലമുറകൾ അറിഞ്ഞേ മതിയാവു.. ഒരു കാലത്തു ക്രിക്കറ്റിനും, ഫുടബോളിനും മുകളിൽ കേരളത്തിൽ വോളിബോൾ തരംഗം ഉണ്ടായി അതിന്റെ കാരണവും മറ്റാരുമല്ല സാക്ഷാൽ ജിമ്മി ജോർജ് ഇന്ത്യൻ വോളിബോൾ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ സമാനതകൾ ഇല്ലാത്ത ഇതിഹാസം ആയിരുന്നു ജിമ്മി ജോർജ്.. ജംപിങ് സെർവ് അമാനുഷിക സ്മാഷുകളും കൊണ്ട് കളിക്കളം നിറഞ്ഞു നിന്ന താരം. പറന്നു പൊങ്ങി വായുവിൽ നിന്നും സ്മാഷുകൾ തൊടുത്ത ആ അത്ഭുത താരത്തെ ഇറ്റലിക്കാർ ഹെർമിസ് ദേവനുമായിയാണ് ഉപമിച്ചത്… ഇറ്റലി, റഷ്യ,അമേരിക്ക  തുടങ്ങി എല്ലായിടത്തും വൻ ആരാധകർ ആയിരുന്നു ജിമ്മിജോർജിനു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. . ഇറ്റലിയിൽ കളിക്കാൻ പൊയ സമയത്തു ഉണ്ടായ രസകരവും കൗതുകം ഉണർത്തുന്നതുമായ ഒരു സംഭവങ്ങൾ പറയാം ജിമ്മി ജോർജിന്റെ കാർ പെട്രോൾ അടിക്കാൻ കയറി അതിന്റെ പൈസ കൊടുത്തപ്പോൾ ഇറ്റലിക്കാർ പറയും ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് താങ്കളുടെ ഒരു ഓട്ടോഗ്രാഫ് തന്നാൽ മതിയെന്ന്.. ഇറ്റലിയിലെ എയർ പോർട്ടിൽ ജിമ്മി ജോർജിന് മാത്രമായി പ്രത്യക വഴി ഒരുക്കുമായിരുന്നു.. 1976 ൽ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പരമോന്നത കായിക ബഹുമതിയായ അർജുന അവാർഡും രാജ്യം നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു.. അർജുന അവാർഡ് ലഭിച്ച ഏറ്റവും പ്രായം കുറഞ്ഞ കളിക്കാരൻ വയസ് 21.. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യകതകൾ 8 അടിയാണ് ഒരു വോളിബോൾ നെറ്റിന്റെ ഹൈറ്റ് സാധാരണ താരങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ബോളുമായി സ്മാഷിനു കോണ്ടാക്ട് ചെയുന്നത് 10 അടി ഹൈറ്റിൽ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നാൽ ജിമ്മി ജോർജിന്റെ റീച് 12 അടി ഹൈറ്റിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.. ജിമ്മി ജോർജിനെ ബ്ലോക്ക്‌ ചെയ്യുക എന്നത് ഏറ്റവും പ്രയാസമേറിയ കാര്യമായിരുന്നു 80% സ്മാഷുകളും ബ്ലോക്ക്‌ ചെയ്യാൻ പറ്റുകയില്ലായിരുന്നു ആദ്യമായി യൂറോപിയൻ വോളി ലീഗിൽ കളിച്ച ആദ്യ ഇന്ത്യകാരൻ എന്ന റെക്കോർഡും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരിലാണ്.. ലോക വോളിബോൾ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഏറ്റവുംമികച്ച 10 അറ്റാക്കർ മാരിൽ ഒരാളായി അദ്ദേഹം ഇനും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു…ഇറ്റലിയിൽ ജിമ്മിജോർജിന്റെ പേരിൽ സ്റ്റേഡിയവും.. അമേരിക്കയിൽ ഇന്നും ജിമ്മിജോർജിന്റെ പേരിൽ വോളിബോൾ ടൂർണമെന്റ് നടത്തുന്നുണ്ട്..ഫോമിന്റെ അത്യുന്നതങ്ങളിൽ നിൽക്കുമ്പോൾ 33 വയസ്സിൽ 1986ൽ കാർ അപകടത്തിൽ ആ മഹാ പ്രതിഭ മരണപെട്ടു…എഴുതാൻ കടൽ പോലെ ഒരുപാട് ഉണ്ട് നിർത്തുന്നു.
